With the start of the summer travel season, Transportation Security Administration officials in Albany on Friday offered suggestions to air passengers that should help ease their way through security checkpoints.
The TSA also has changed procedures for screening children under 12 and adults 75 and over, said Brian Johansson, federal security director for the TSA at the Albany International Airport.
?We still take the necessary steps to insure security,? he said Friday morning. But, ?we?re trying to make it a little easier? for passengers.
The new procedures for children took effect last fall, while those for adults 75 and over went into effect at Albany a week ago, Johansson said.
The changes include no longer removing shoes and light outerwear, permitting a second scan through digital imaging scanners to resolve any anomalies, and a greater use of explosives trace detection.
