Indianapolis sports, auto racing in particular, are never more in the world limelight than during the month of May. That?s when dozens of Indianapolis events that have sprung up over the generations around the main event, the Indianapolis 500-mile race, inundating the Circle City with a sense of speed and vibrant life force. It?s an appropriate response to the coming of Spring and a great way to kick off an active Hoosier summer.
Greater Indianapolis auto racing events, however, are not limited to Indy and its small but mighty suburb called Speedway, Indiana, where the most famous action takes place. Flanking Indianapolis on the northeast and southwestern quadrants of the I-465 loop are two more renowned racetracks offering great speed and fewer crowds in May: the Paragon Speedway in Paragon, Indiana and the Anderson Speedway in Anderson, Indiana, home of the ?Pay Less Little 500.? Also in Anderson is the famous Hoosier Park, home of thoroughbred horse racing.
